Rhytidoponera metallica, commonly known as the green headed ant, is a beautiful species hailing from Australia that will captivate any ant enthusiast, showcasing impressive iridescent green and metallic hues. This species requires a  temperature of 25 to 27 degrees and a humidity of 40 to 80%. This species slows down during the Australian winter, between June and August. Their diet includes Carbohydrates( sugar water, honey water, and syrups) and Protein( fresh killed insects or small alive insects like fruit flies and small roaches), they will also take seeds.
